A British couple who died in wildfires in Spain have been named as Pete and Fran Gillam. They were among 13 people killed as fires swept through southern Spain, their daughter confirmed.
Couple Identified as Victims
The Gillams lived in Bédar, one of the villages hardest hit by the wildfires. Their daughter, Danielle Gillam-Kirton, announced the news on Facebook, writing: "We are heartbroken to share that we have received confirmation from the police that Mum and Dad did not survive the fire."
Daughter's Tribute
In her post, Gillam-Kirton expressed gratitude for support: "Thank you for all your love, support and prayers over the past few days. They have meant more to us than we can ever express." The couple's deaths add to the tragic toll of the wildfires that have devastated parts of Spain.
Ongoing Wildfire Crisis
The wildfires, which have been raging in southern Spain, have resulted in 13 confirmed fatalities. Authorities continue to battle the blazes, with evacuation orders in place for several communities. The Gillams are among the first British victims identified in the disaster.
