British Couple Abandon Kids at Spanish Hotel to Party

A British couple who abandoned their three young children at a Costa del Sol hotel to go out partying have been sentenced. The children, aged six months, one year, and four years, were found alone in their hotel room at the Holiday World Resort in Benalmadena.

Arrest and Charges

The parents, a 41-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, were arrested and charged with abandonment. The youngest child tested positive for cocaine at a Malaga hospital, though the parents denied this. The children were taken into care and placed with emergency foster families.

Court Sentence

The parents received prison sentences suspended for 18 months and were banned from seeing their children for two years. They are also prohibited from coming within 500 meters of the children for two years and eight months. The children are under the guardianship of Andalusia's Social Services, which plans to contact the British consulate for their transfer to the UK.
