A 30-year-old British man is accused of kicking a police officer in the chest before engaging in sexual activity with a woman in the street and attempting to escape through people's gardens. The incident occurred in Church, Lancashire, on Sunday evening, and the man was arrested on Tuesday morning.
Details of the Incident
Police reported that they caught the unnamed man and a 36-year-old woman, also unnamed, 'engaging in sexual activity' on Meadoway. The woman was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and assaulting an emergency worker after allegedly shouting, swearing, and spitting at an officer. The man was described as 'garden hopping' in an attempt to flee.
Arrest and Charges
Hyndburn Police stated that Immediate Response Officers, along with Lancs Police Specialist Ops and a canine unit, tracked down the man on Buckingham Grove. He was arrested for two alleged assaults from the previous evening, a Recall to Prison, and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker after allegedly kicking officers in the chest. He remains in police custody.
Police Statement
In a Facebook statement, Hyndburn Police noted that the pair 'ended up booking a stay at our finest custody suite,' but emphasized that the alleged assault was 'no laughing matter.' The man has been charged with multiple assault accounts and one charge related to an alleged probation breach.
