A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car appears to have mounted the pavement during an incident in Bristol, leaving three people injured.
Emergency services were called to Stokes Croft at around 6.30am following what police described as an “incident of disorder”. A heightened police presence remains in the area, while Thomas Street, Hepburn Road, Stokes Croft and City Road are closed as enquiries continue.
What we know so far
Three people were injured, with one taken to hospital. Police say the injuries are not as serious as first feared. A nearby business was also damaged during the incident.
The man believed to be the driver has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous driving and remains in police custody. He was also treated for facial injuries.
No wider threat
Police have reassured the public they do not believe there is any wider threat following this morning’s incident. Superintendent Matt Ebbs said a “thorough investigation” will now establish exactly what happened.
