A nine-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after a two-car collision in Birmingham. Police have arrested a man and a woman at the scene.

West Midlands Police were called to Masshouse Lane, at the junction of Shannon Road in Kings Norton, at approximately 5.55pm on Tuesday. The boy was found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains critical.
The man and woman were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They were also taken to hospital for checks following the crash, a police spokesperson said.
Police appeal
In a statement, the force said: "We're appealing for information following a serious collision in Birmingham earlier this evening. We were called to Masshouse Lane at the junction of Shannon Road in Kings Norton at around 5.55pm to reports of a two-car collision. A nine-year-old boy was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition.
"A man and a woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They were taken to hospital to be checked over.
"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area just before and around the time of the collision and in particular anyone who has any dash-cam footage to get in touch. Masshouse Lane at the junction of Shannon Road remains closed."
