Three people were taken to hospital after a two-car crash on the Blackrod Bypass in Bolton, in which one vehicle struck a tree. Firefighters had to cut the casualties free from the vehicles.

The collision happened at around 4.10pm on Sunday 27 September on the Blackrod Bypass. One of the two cars involved ploughed into a tree.
Three people were extricated from the vehicles by firefighters and taken to hospital from the scene. In an update issued on Monday morning, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. No arrests were made.
Emergency response
Police closed the road in both directions on Sunday afternoon, with a cordon in place while officers worked at the scene and cleared the crash. A GMP spokesperson said: "We were called at around 4.10pm to a road traffic collision between two vehicles on Blackrod Bypass on Sunday 27 September. Emergency services arrived and three people were taken to hospital for treatment."
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spokesperson said: "At around 4:20pm this afternoon (Sunday, 27th September), firefighters were called to reports of a crash on Blackrod Bypass in Blackrod, Bolton.
"Two fire engines from Horwich and Hindley fire stations, along with the Enhanced Rescue from Leigh fire station, quickly arrived at the scene which involved a collision between two cars. Firefighters extricated three casualties who were trapped inside the vehicles. All casualties were treated by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service and conveyed to hospital.
"Greater Manchester Police closed the road in both directions while crews worked to clear the roadway and make the area safe. Crews were in attendance for approximately 90 minutes."
