A body has been discovered in the search for a missing man from Southport. Stephen Molloy, aged 60, was reported missing on Thursday, June 4. His family issued a heartfelt appeal for his safe return, stating they were "extremely distressed and concerned" for his welfare.
They noted that Stephen was a vulnerable adult with learning difficulties and may also be suffering from dementia. Following the last sighting of Stephen in the Town Lane Kew area of Southport, Merseyside Police launched a search operation.
Earlier this month, the force appealed to the public for help in tracing his movements since his disappearance. Today, Thursday, June 18, exactly two weeks after he was reported missing, police confirmed that a body had been found, believed to be that of Stephen Molloy.
The body was located in Halsall, Lancashire, last night (Wednesday, June 17). Although formal identification has yet to take place, it is believed to be Stephen. His family has been informed.
Police have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
