Birmingham Double Stabbing: Man Fights for Life

A man is fighting for his life after a horrific double stabbing near the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square. Police have cordoned off a large area following the incident.

Emergency Response

Emergency services rushed to the scene adjacent to the Repertory Theatre. Footage shows three police vehicles with sirens blaring. The cordon extends from the fountain area towards The Hall of Memory.

Victims

A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening stab wounds. A second man sustained injuries to his hand, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police Statement

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are currently at the scene of a stabbing in Centenary Square, Birmingham. A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening stab wounds. A second man has sustained wounds to his hand. A cordon is in place while we carry out enquiries." Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 2914 of 11 June.

Ambulance Service

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 2.25pm to reports of a stabbing on Great Charles Street Queensway, Birmingham. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be life threatening. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to hospital for further assessment."
