Ben Stokes has been dropped from the England squad for the second Test against New Zealand amid an investigation into a nightclub incident. Gus Atkinson has also been removed from the team following the same incident.
ECB Statement on Squad Changes
The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed on Wednesday that, given the ongoing investigation, Stokes and Atkinson have not been made available for selection for the Rothesay 2nd Test, which begins at the Kia Oval on Wednesday, 17 June.
Interim Captain and Replacements Announced
Yorkshire batter Joe Root will lead the team as interim captain. Sussex fast bowler Jofra Archer and Essex batter Jordan Cox have been added to the squad.
