Video footage has captured the moment a British Airways flight attendant stepped in to restrain an unruly passenger on a flight from London Heathrow to Las Vegas. The man, who was later arrested by armed police, caused a disturbance on board the aircraft.
Confrontation on board
The footage shows the passenger repeatedly swearing during a heated confrontation with fellow travelers. A flight attendant intervened to calm him, but he ignored her repeated demands to stay seated and listen to instructions.
The attendant warned him: 'If I have to tell you again, I will be restraining you, sir, if you do not stay seated.' Despite the warning, his behavior escalated, forcing the crew to abort takeoff and call the police.
Arrest and aftermath
Wearing a blue T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms, the passenger was met by armed officers and escorted off the Airbus A350. He was handcuffed and taken away from the plane at Heathrow Airport, with footage of the incident spreading on social media.
Music producer and DJ @bou_dnb shared a clip of the exchange, which gained over 200,000 likes and more than 10,000 comments. He praised the flight attendant, saying: "Fair play to the air hostess here, because she absolutely held it down," and suggested she deserved a raise.
Official response
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk on board an aircraft at around 5.30pm on Thursday, August 6. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed officers responded to 'reports of a passenger being disruptive on an outbound plane' and that 'the plane returned to the terminal to allow officers to board the plane.'
A British Airways spokesperson said: 'Disruptive or abusive behaviour is never tolerated on board, and the safety of our customers and crew is our highest priority. When these incidents occur, the appropriate action will always be taken.'
