Artist dies in Devon crash after final beach day

A beloved artist spent her final day swimming at the beach with her partner and dog before dying at the scene of a crash in Devon. Elizabeth Brown, 69, has been described by her family as a “strong, bright, intuitive, and warm” individual.

Fatal crash in Shaldon

Ms Brown died after a crash involving a pedestrian and a silver motorcycle on the A379 Torquay Road in Shaldon on July 3. The mother-of-two’s family said she “loved colour and creating big, bright paintings” and will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Family tribute

In a tribute, her family said: “Liz leaves behind her children Camilla and Alastair, her partner Simon and her brother Andrew. Last year, Liz became a proud grandmother to Circe.”

“Liz was an artist. She loved colour and created big bright paintings that reflect her personality: strong, bright, intuitive, and warm.”

Police investigation ongoing

Emergency services were called to the A379 following the crash. Ms Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations into what led to the collision continue.
