Armed police officers descended on a quiet residential street in the Rhondda Valleys on Saturday morning following reports of a man threatening to use firearms. South Wales Police responded to the incident at Heather Close in Tonypandy, where a man allegedly claimed to have access to weapons and made threats.

Police Response and Arrest

The force received a call at approximately 10.30am on Saturday, July 4, reporting a man making threats and stating he had firearms at the address. Firearms officers attended the scene, and a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and affray. No weapons were found during the operation, but investigations remain ongoing, police confirmed.

Bail and Ongoing Investigation

The arrested man has been released on bail while inquiries continue. A South Wales Police spokesperson stated: "Officers were called to Heather Close, Trealaw, at 10.38am on Saturday (July 4) to reports of a man making threats. Whilst making threats, he also claimed to have access to firearms in his address. Firearms officers attended and a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and affray. No weapons were located and enquiries are ongoing. The man has been released on bail."
