Jeremy Williams, 42, was executed by lethal injection at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama, after requesting the death penalty. He had pleaded guilty to the 2021 abduction, rape, and murder of five-year-old Kamarie Holland.
Details of the crime
Prosecutors stated that Williams raped and strangled Holland after paying the child's mother to abuse her. Kamarie's mother told police that when she woke at 5.50am on December 13, 2021, her daughter was missing and the front door of their Columbus, Georgia, home was open.
The girl's body was discovered late that evening at an abandoned property in nearby Phenix City, Alabama, where Williams had previously lived. On the night before her death, she was brought out of her home and taken to the abandoned house.
Mother's involvement
Before this, Holland's mother Kristy Marie Siple, who had a relationship with Williams, agreed to Williams' request to rape Holland. Siple allegedly asked Williams to pay her $2,500 in exchange for raping her daughter, but they reduced the payment to $1,300 after some negotiations, although Williams never paid in the end.
Legal proceedings and sentencing
In 2022, Williams was charged with four counts of capital murder after confessing to killing the five-year-old. On March 13, 2024, he pleaded guilty to all four capital counts, requesting the death penalty in order to bring closure to the victim's family.
Siple is serving a 20-year prison sentence after confessing to the human sex trafficking of her daughter. Williams chose not to present any mitigating evidence - typically submitted during a capital sentencing hearing to argue for a sentence of life imprisonment without parole rather than death - at his 2024 sentencing. With no mitigating evidence to consider, the court sentenced Williams to death.
He was also charged in 2022 with the 2005 death of his infant daughter in Alaska. "This man left a trail of destruction of children," said Russell County District Attorney Richard Chancey.
