A 28-year-old man was arrested after more than 40 parked cars were vandalized with a crowbar on a single street in Birmingham. The incident occurred on Moseley Road in the Balsall Heath area on Friday morning, leaving residents shocked and their vehicles severely damaged.
Police were called to the scene at around 10 a.m. after reports of a man armed with a crowbar attacking parked vehicles. Witnesses described the suspect lunging at cars, smashing windows from one end of the road to the other. Among the damaged vehicles was a £40,000 Audi TT.
A neighbor who witnessed the rampage stated, "It must be more than 29 cars. This man decided to smash all the back windows, front windows from right at the beginning of the road right to the end. He took every car window down. The police caught him at the end, but there was that much damage. Everyone's cars were gone. He used what looked like a tree log to smash all the windows."
The suspect, a 28-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon. West Midlands Police confirmed that a crowbar was recovered. A police spokesperson said, "We were called to reports of a man damaging numerous vehicles on Moseley Road, Birmingham, at around 10 a.m. this morning. Officers attended and arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of causing criminal damage. A crowbar was also recovered, and he was further arrested for possession of an offensive weapon. We understand the concern with this incident."
