Construction workers in Poland made a horrifying discovery when they unearthed the bodies of 29 unborn babies buried beneath a family home. The remains were found while excavating a driveway on private land in Lutory, prompting the arrest of a 52-year-old woman, identified only as Magdalena H., according to Polish news agency PAP.
Investigation and Charges
The suspect is being investigated for desecration of a corpse and illegal disposal of hazardous waste. If convicted, she faces a prison sentence of two to 12 years, as reported by The Mirror. Local media stated that prosecutors found a significant amount of medical waste, including paraffin blocks and microscope slides, on the property.
Discovery and Police Response
The current owners of the five-acre plot, who were renovating the house, alerted police after the discovery. A large emergency response ensued, with police continuing to dig the area, and searches expected to last until next week. Polish outlet Interia Wydarzenia reported that investigators received the first information about the medical waste on June 10.
Medical experts confirmed that the secured remains were human fetuses. An excavator used in the digging is being tested for DNA, and a specialist waterworks truck was deployed amid fears that nearby drains and sewer systems might contain further evidence.
Neighbors Describe Suspect
Local residents described the former owner of the property as unsettling and reclusive. She reportedly bought the house two years ago and sold it to a young couple six months ago. One villager said, “I don’t even know what this woman does. I knew her by sight.” Another neighbor described her as “a bit strange.” A third man recalled, “I remember that woman, but she hasn’t been here for about five years. She supposedly performed some autopsy here, but I don’t know for sure.”
