A 36-year-old secretary drowned in her bath at her home in Darwen, Lancashire, on 7 October 2024, an inquest at Blackburn Town Hall has heard. Natasha Margaret Keryk was found submerged in the bath, where a sponge was covering the plughole.
Drowning and Contributory Factors
The hearing was told that Ms Keryk died from drowning, with acute alcohol intoxication recorded as a contributory factor. A sponge had been placed over the plughole and remained in position when she was found, according to Lancs Live.
Coroner's Narrative Conclusion
Area Coroner Emma Mather delivered a narrative conclusion, stating: "Natasha Margaret Keryk died on the 7th October 2024 in her home in Darwen. Natasha was found submerged in the bath where a sponge was covering the plug and she died from drowning.
"At the time of her death she was acutely intoxicated. Natasha was experiencing significant challenging personal issues at the time of her death and was being supported by professionals. Her intentions cannot be determined."
