Sarah Ferguson's former friend Lizzie Cundy has said the Duchess of York wants to make a comeback, but only by putting the victims of Jeffrey Epstein first. Speaking on Channel 5's Storm & Alexis, Cundy argued Ferguson wants to tell her side of the story after claims she was close to signing a tell-all autobiography deal.
The Sun reported Ferguson was "days away" from agreeing to a memoir following a "bidding war". However, a representative for the former wife of Prince Andrew confirmed she "has no plans to write any tell-all memoir". Ferguson is also rumoured to be returning to the UK after moving to Switzerland.
Victims should come first
Host Storm Huntley challenged Cundy, saying: "Sorry, Lizzie, making money off the back of a situation where there are victims involved is never going to be a good look. And that's what this is going to look like. Shouldn't she be giving, as Louis said, this money to charity to the victims to help support them?"
Cundy agreed any proceeds should go to victims, adding: "There are a lot of areas Sarah wants to talk about from Diana's death, Meghan and Harry. And I have to say, I think people want to read it and hear it. But I agree, the focus should be on the victims and that money."
Queen of comebacks
Cundy continued: "I think she's learnt a lot of lessons from what happened to Andrew. She feels she is queen of the comebacks. And there's a way to revive her career. And, you know, people like Fergie, the Queen liked Fergie. She was very different, a breath of fresh air when she came into the royal family. But look, she's got to tell the truth. And I've always said, as I've said on your show many times, she needs to put the victims first. And let's see what happens."
King Charles stripped Andrew and Ferguson of their titles in October over links with Epstein, and they were evicted from Royal Lodge, Windsor, in February.
