The cause of death for a 15-year-old pupil at Eton College, who was discovered lifeless in his boarding house, remains a mystery, an inquest has been informed. Isaac Edison Albrow Stringer was found deceased at the prestigious boarding school's Godolphin House in Windsor on the morning of February 27.
Coroner's Statement on the Investigation
Heidi Connor, the senior coroner for Berkshire, addressed the hearing, stating: 'The precise cause of death has yet to be determined at this time, and Isaac has been returned to his family for the funeral. We are in the process of obtaining statements.' She added that while these investigations are ongoing, the proceedings will be adjourned.
Mrs Connor concluded the brief hearing by expressing her most heartfelt condolences to Isaac's family at this sad time. A pre-inquest hearing is scheduled to occur at a later date, which has not yet been confirmed.
Eton College's Response and Support Measures
Last month, a spokesperson for Eton College, where annual fees are approximately £63,000, commented: 'It is with the greatest sadness that Eton College can confirm that one of our boys has died while at school. Our priority is to support his family and respect their privacy, as well as to support his friends and the wider school community, and therefore we will be making no further statement at this time.'
The all-boys institution, which has 1,345 pupils aged between 13 and 18, accommodates students in their own rooms within 25 boarding houses. These houses are described on Eton's website as caring communities that put kindness and empathy at the heart of their ethos.
