A confrontation over vaping on an Elizabeth line train escalated into a violent brawl, with footage capturing the incident as it spilled onto the platform at Stratford station.
The altercation began when a middle-aged passenger asked a teenage girl to stop vaping inside the carriage. The girl reportedly ignored the request, exhaled smoke in his direction, and told him to 'F*** off' before appearing to spit at him.
Her male and female companions then joined in, shouting abuse at the man. The fracas continued on the platform after the train arrived at Stratford, trapping other commuters in the carriage during the tunnel section of the journey.
British Transport Police confirmed they are aware of the video showing the altercation and are investigating. A spokesperson said: 'We’re aware of a video showing an altercation on a train.'
Transport for London reiterated its ban on smoking and vaping across all services, stating: 'Everyone has the right to travel safely and we encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses a crime or antisocial behaviour on the Tube or on our rail services to report it to the British Transport Police.'
