A 20-year-old man killed in a three-car crash in West Lothian has been named as Arran Callander, as tributes described him as "one of a kind".
Callander was driving a white BMW that collided with a blue Citroen Saxo and a blue Peugeot 208 on the B708 Lower Bathville road in Bathgate at around 12.15pm on Sunday. He died at the scene alongside the 84-year-old male driver of the Peugeot, who has not yet been named.
Injuries and Response
The passenger of the BMW, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment. The occupants of the Citroen, a 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were assessed by paramedics at the scene.
The crash happened while an amber weather warning for Storm Boelo was in place until Sunday evening across most of Scotland.
Tributes to Arran Callander
Callander's sister, Angela, led the tributes. She said: "You will be so missed by so many. It's not sunk in. I want to see you again. It's like I'm dreaming. Thinking of everyone affected by the crash, Love you so much, forever and always. Fly high."
Amelie Johansen wrote: "I'm never going to get my head around this. My longest friend. The memories we’ve shared along with all the laughs we’ve had will always be at the front of my mind. I'll never forget your one liners. You had everyone laughing. You really were one of a kind, Arran. None of this feels real and I don't think it ever will. The grief that has come with this is unbearable. Until we meet again, Arran. I love you loads."
Katie Cummings said: "Thoughts to Arran's family. He was always lovely when he came into my work," and Ashley Forrest shared: "Heartbreaking for all involved, thinking of A and his family. Such a lovely young man."
Police Appeal
Other messages came from Lauren Cawley, who said "Lost for words. Rest easy, Arran. Absolutely gutted," Caitlin Logan, who wrote "Rest easy Arran. Young life taken far too soon," and Cole Mckillop, who penned "Rest easy Arran forever childhood best mates."
Images from the scene showed a large cordon in place as officers examined the crash site. The road was closed to allow crash investigation work to take place, and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Sergeant Dave Waddell said: "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the two men who have died, and everyone affected by this incident. Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to please contact us. In addition, anyone with relevant dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist."
