A devastating multi-vehicle collision on the M62 in Greater Manchester has left three people dead and another fighting for their life in what police are describing as a "truly horrific incident."
Emergency services descended on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12 near Eccles following reports of a serious collision involving multiple vehicles late on Tuesday evening.

North West Ambulance Service confirmed they dispatched multiple resources to the scene, including advanced trauma teams and hazardous area response units. Despite the best efforts of paramedics and medical staff, three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
A fourth victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they remain in critical condition according to latest reports.
