Three people were taken to hospital after their car overturned on a road in County Durham on Sunday evening. Emergency services, including the Great North Air Ambulance, were called to Hesleden Road near Blackhall Colliery.
Durham Constabulary said on Facebook that the B1281 between Hesleden and Yohden Hall Nursing Home was expected to be closed for some time and encouraged motorists to find an alternative route. The North East Ambulance Service treated three patients at the scene before they were all taken to hospital.
Ambulance response
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We dispatched three ambulance crews, the air ambulance, a rapid response paramedic, a clinical team leader and an advanced paramedic. We treated three patients before conveying all three to hospital."
Air ambulance activated
A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance Service added: "Our critical care team was activated at 7.21pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the B1281 near Blackhall Colliery. We had a paramedic and doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 7.30pm."
