An Atlanta-based actress and her three children died in an eight-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler on Interstate 10 in Southeast Texas on Thursday. The victims were identified as Chelsea Standberry, 36, Anthony Standberry Jr, 10, Anaiyah Standberry, 8, and Chase Standberry, 6.
Beaumont police are investigating the cause of the collision, which occurred around dawn on the Major Drive overpass. The family were travelling from Georgia in one vehicle, along with Chelsea's husband Anthony Standberry Sr, her stepdaughter Jada Standberry and her mother-in-law Renee Ford. The three survivors were injured but are expected to recover.
Several other people in other vehicles sustained minor injuries, but the driver of the 18-wheeler escaped unharmed. The pile-up involved a tractor-trailer and seven other passenger vehicles, with some bursting into flames.
Chelsea Standberry, who used the stage name ChelseyRai S. Standberry, was an actress and entertainment host in Atlanta. She graduated from Mercer University and was a member of the Iota Sigma sorority. Her husband is also an actor, and the couple had appeared together in film and TV projects.
