Pickup Truck Flies 100 Feet Before Crashing Into Oregon Home

Jaw-dropping video footage has emerged showing a pickup truck launching approximately 100 feet through the air before crashing directly into a family home in Oregon during the middle of the night. The astonishing incident, captured on a neighbour's security camera, occurred in the city of Tigard, located near Portland, in the early morning hours last Friday.

Family Miraculously Unharmed in Terrifying Crash

The home was occupied by David Brudnok, his wife, and their three young children at the time of the dramatic collision. Remarkably, all five family members were upstairs when the truck smashed into their first-floor bathroom, and authorities confirmed they escaped entirely unharmed.

"I didn’t expect a flying truck," David Brudnok told local news outlet KGW. "I just heard this, boom! And the house shakes." He described the moment he descended the stairs to discover the devastating aftermath. "I get down the stairs, and I realize the whole front of my house is completely just gone. I thank God that everyone was upstairs when it happened."

Police Detail the Extraordinary Sequence of Events

According to an official news release from the Tigard Police Department, the driver, identified as 33-year-old Jacob Hankins, was allegedly driving recklessly and speeding prior to the crash. The police report states that Hankins "hit a dirt mound on the side of the road and launched roughly 100 feet into the air and over a 3-foot brick wall before crashing into the side of the house."

Witnesses corroborated accounts of reckless driving before the vehicle became airborne. The video evidence shows the moment of impact, with a loud boom audible as the truck demolished part of the residence, causing the front porch lights to extinguish immediately.

Driver and Passenger Extricated with Minor Injuries

Upon arrival, officers found Jacob Hankins initially unconscious inside the vehicle. Both Hankins and a passenger were trapped within the wreckage, requiring firefighters to perform an extrication to free them. The two individuals were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for what were described as minor injuries.

Police shared photographs revealing the "significant damage" inflicted upon the family's home. The images depict the pickup truck lodged inside a room of the house, with only a single wall partially remaining. The ceiling had collapsed, and debris filled the bed of the truck, illustrating the sheer force of the impact.

Legal Charges Filed Following Investigation

Jacob Hankins has now been formally charged with reckless driving and recklessly endangering others as a result of the incident. Information regarding his legal representation was not immediately available following the charges.

In a statement reflecting on the fortunate outcome, the Tigard Police Department said, "We’re thankful no one was seriously hurt." The investigation into the precise circumstances leading to the extraordinary airborne crash continues, as the community processes the startling visual evidence of the event.
