An Isuzu pickup truck has caused an estimated £350,000 worth of devastation after ploughing through the window of a luxury car showroom in the West Midlands, severely damaging two high-value McLaren supercars.
Chaos on Stratford Road
The dramatic incident unfolded on Sunday, December 7, on Stratford Road in Hockley Heath. Emergency services, including firefighters and police officers, rushed to the scene after the pickup truck smashed through the showroom's front window.
Upon impact, the vehicle not only shattered a large section of glass but also dislodged a metal beam, causing significant structural damage to the building. Video footage from the aftermath revealed a gaping hole at the front of the premises, with wreckage strewn inside the cordoned-off area.
Supercars Left Battered
The showroom, which sits beneath a Lotus dealership and next to a Rolls Royce showroom, housed two exceptionally valuable vehicles that bore the brunt of the crash.
- A black McLaren 750S Spider, valued at approximately £270,000.
- An orange McLaren GT, with a price tag of around £105,000.
Both supercars sustained serious damage in the collision. Due to the high value of the assets, private security was swiftly called to the site to protect the vehicles overnight, with West Midlands Police also remaining at the scene.
Aftermath and Investigation
A man was taken to hospital following the crash, though his current condition remains unknown. An insurance assessor was later seen surveying the extensive damage.
Intriguingly, a witness reported seeing the pickup truck parked in the pub opposite the showroom prior to the incident. The crash occurred less than 36 hours after a separate high-profile incident in Birmingham, where a Lamborghini Urus was destroyed following a double stabbing.
West Midlands Police have been contacted for further comment on the ongoing investigation into the cause of the Hockley Heath crash.
