Great Northern train services between Moorgate/King’s Cross and Hertford North, and between those stations and Stevenage, are disrupted this morning after a person was hit by a train between Hertford North and Alexandra Palace, National Rail reported.
Tube line suspensions and delays
The Piccadilly line is not running between Cockfosters and Uxbridge, though trains continue to operate between Acton Town and Heathrow. The Elizabeth line has minor delays between Abbey Wood and Hayes & Harlington due to a faulty train at Hanwell, according to TfL.
The District line is part suspended between Turnham Green and Ealing Broadway due to a points failure at Acton Town. The Northern line has no service between Camden Town and Edgware due to a points failure at Hampstead, with severe delays elsewhere after a faulty train at East Finchley.
Highgate incident and other disruptions
Highgate station was closed for more than two hours after a person was hit by a train at around 7.59am. The London Ambulance Service said: "Very sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene." The air ambulance was dispatched. The Northern line part suspension between East Finchley and Archway has been lifted, but severe delays continue.
The Victoria line has minor delays after a track fault at Highbury & Islington. The Metropolitan line has minor delays between Moor Park and Watford due to train cancellations.
Gatwick and other rail disruption
Great Western Railway services between Reading and Gatwick Airport are affected after a person was hit by a train in the Guildford area. Passengers can use their tickets on Elizabeth line and Thameslink. Network Rail said disruption is expected until at least 3pm.
South Western Railway announced a reduced timetable from 10 August due to heatwave conditions, with slower speeds and longer journey times between Waterloo and Exeter St Davids. A spokesman said: "Record-breaking heat and low rainfall have dried out the clay embankments between Salisbury and Exeter, affecting track stability."
Station closures
Charing Cross and Waterloo East stations are closed until August 16 as part of a £20 million upgrade. Southeastern services are diverted to London Victoria, London Cannon Street and London Blackfriars.
