Pickup Truck Launched 100 Feet Through Air Before Crashing Into Oregon Family Home

Dramatic and shocking footage has captured the terrifying moment a pickup truck soared approximately one hundred feet through the air before smashing catastrophically into a family home in Tigard, Oregon. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of February 13th, has left a trail of destruction and sparked widespread discussion about road safety.

High-Speed Launch Leads to Nightmare Crash

According to police reports, Jacob Haskins, aged 33, was speeding on the outskirts of Portland just before 3 a.m. when his Ford pickup truck struck a substantial dirt mound. The impact launched the vehicle an estimated one hundred feet into the air. The truck then cleared a three-foot brick wall before crashing directly into the residence.

The footage starkly illustrates the truck's high velocity as it flies through the air. However, unlike the iconic orange 1969 Dodge Charger R/T from the television series The Dukes of Hazzard, this vehicle did not achieve a safe landing. Instead, it crashed in a nightmarish fashion, embedding itself into the family's home.

Miraculous Escape for Occupants

Officers arriving at the scene found the driver, who was initially unconscious, and his passenger trapped within the wreckage. Remarkably, both individuals escaped with only minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Jacob Haskins has since been charged with reckless driving and reckless endangering.

Inside the home, David Brudnok was asleep with his wife and their three children when he was jolted awake by what he described to Fox 12 as 'the loudest boom I've ever heard in my life.' Mistaking the violent impact for an intruder, Brudnok immediately gathered his family and called the police.

Incredibly, no one inside the home was physically hurt. However, the force of the collision completely destroyed a bathroom and obliterated the home's front and garage doors. The family is currently staying elsewhere while their property undergoes extensive restoration.

Homeowner's Compassionate Response and Online Reactions

Despite the severe damage to his residence, David Brudnok expressed a profound lack of bitterness. He voiced his primary concern for the recovery of those involved in the accident.

'I know that type of stuff is deadly at the rate that they hit the house. I just hope everybody is okay and that they heal okay,' Brudnok told Fox 12. 'I'm going to pray to God and ask why, and then we'll go from there.'

Online reactions to the circulated footage have been varied and intense:

  • One commenter framed it as a sobering warning: 'This is a great reminder of the importance of safe driving. It's a miracle that the family was not hurt. Let's all be more careful on the road.'
  • Others demanded stringent penalties: 'Arrest, imprison for five years, garnish wages until he pays the homeowner all expenses paid by the homeowner, plus twenty thousand dollars for the hassle.'
  • A third observer noted the extreme physics involved: 'Somebody watched too much Dukes of Hazzard. If it seriously went 100ft in the air, he must have been doing well over 100mph, and that must be some serious dirt mound.'

Separate Dramatic Crash Reported on Same Day

In a coincidental and similarly dramatic event on the same day, a rollover crash was captured on video on Interstate 15 in Utah. A Toyota Tacoma struck a PT Cruiser after a third vehicle reportedly attempted an unsafe lane change, triggering the collision chain according to Fox 13.

The Utah Highway Patrol stated the incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. The truck driver sustained minor injuries, while the PT Cruiser driver emerged unharmed. This separate incident further underscores the unpredictable and dangerous nature of road incidents across the region.
