A man in his 70s was spotted driving a mobility scooter on the M11 motorway in Harlow, Essex, prompting police intervention. Essex Police received reports at around 12:35 pm on Friday that the man had accidentally entered the motorway on his scooter.
Officers attended the scene to ensure the driver's safety, briefly closing one lane while they assisted him into a police vehicle. A photo released by police shows the mobility scooter on the road with a blue and green rain cover.
The force noted that “lots of drivers” called to alert them, and described the incident as a “great reminder to only use suitable vehicles on our major roads”. Essex Police added, “Thanks to everyone who called to make us aware.”
