A 20-year-old man who died in a fatal crash during Storm Boelo has been named as Arran Callander. The crash occurred on the B708 Lower Bathville road in Bathgate, West Lothian, at around 12.15pm on Sunday, October 25.
Callander was driving a white BMW that collided with a blue Citroen Saxo and a blue Peugeot 208. The passenger of the BMW, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment. The occupants of the Citroen, a 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were assessed by paramedics at the scene. The 84-year-old male driver of the Peugeot also died at the scene.
Family and Friends Pay Tribute
Callander's sister, Angela, led the tributes, describing him as "one of a kind." She said: "You will be so missed by so many. It's not sunk in. I want to see you again. It's like I'm dreaming. Thinking of everyone affected by the crash. Love you so much. Forever and always. Fly high."
Friend Amelie Johansen said: "I'm never going to get my head around this. My longest friend. The memories we've shared, along with all the laughs we've had, will always be at the front of my mind. I'll never forget your one-liners. You had everyone laughing."
"You really were one of a kind, Arran. None of this feels real, and I don't think it ever will. The grief that has come with this is unbearable. Until we meet again, Arran. I love you loads."
Katie Cummings added: "Thoughts to Arran's family. He was always lovely when he came into my work." Ashley Forrest shared: "Heartbreaking for all involved, thinking of A and his family. Such a lovely young man." Lauren Cawley said: "Lost for words. Rest easy, Arran. Absolutely gutted."

Images from the scene show a large cordon in place as officers scour the crash site. The road was closed to allow crash investigation work to take place, and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

"Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to please contact us. In addition, anyone with relevant dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 1770 of October 25, 2026.
