A crash on the M5 northbound has partially blocked the carriageway between Junction 20 (Clevedon) and Junction 19 (Portishead), causing major delays on one of the busiest summer getaway days of the year.

The incident was first reported at around 10.30am. Traffic monitoring service Inrix confirmed the motorway is partially blocked, with congestion building rapidly across all three lanes as thousands of motorists head off for the school holidays.

Delays continue to build

Motorists are experiencing slow-moving traffic on the M5 northbound. Inrix reports: "M5 Northbound partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident from J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon) to J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead)."
