The M27 motorway in Hampshire has fully reopened after a serious crash prompted a full closure in both directions and an air ambulance deployment. The incident occurred between junctions 11 and 12, near Southampton and Portsmouth, in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6.
National Highways confirmed that all lanes were open by around 6am, with normal traffic conditions expected between 5.45am and 6am. Congestion was anticipated to clear by 6.30am. The westbound carriageway reopened first, followed by the eastbound once police completed their investigation.
Hampshire emergency services attended the scene, and an air ambulance was called. The closure was first reported shortly before 3am, with diversion routes in place but full details not immediately available.
Traffic cameras and CCTV were offline due to emergency crews on site. The incident is no longer ongoing, and all lanes are now accessible to motorists travelling both eastbound and westbound.
