A multi-vehicle collision on the M25 caused significant delays for motorists on Tuesday morning. The crash occurred on the anti-clockwise carriageway between junction 17 for Rickmansworth and junction 16 for the M40 at the Denham Interchange.
National Highways reported that two of the four lanes were initially closed but later reopened. However, residual delays of up to 90 minutes were experienced, with congestion building back to junction 21 for Watford. By early afternoon, delays had eased to around 15 minutes.
Recovery work has been completed and all lanes are now running, according to National Highways. Normal traffic conditions were expected to resume between 11am and 11.15am, though earlier predictions had been pushed back. The M25 remains congested at the entry slip at junction 19.
Drivers were advised to allow extra journey time while the backlog cleared. The 117-mile motorway is one of the busiest roads in the UK.
