The family of a 17-year-old boy who died in a crash on the A19 has paid tribute to a 'much-loved' son. Cleveland Police have named the teenager as Harley Patterson, from County Durham, who died in the collision on Saturday, December 13.
Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle collision at 11.15pm on the southbound carriageway between the A179 and the Elwick turn off. Harley, the driver of a silver Ford C-Max, sadly died at the scene.
The road was closed for around 12 hours, reopening shortly after 11am on Sunday. An investigation was carried out at the scene, assisted by National Highways contractors.
In a heartfelt tribute, Harley's family said: 'Harley was a much-loved son, brother and grandson and he will be sadly missed.' Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 238211.
