Emergency services were called at approximately 5pm on Friday, July 31, to reports of a collision between a tractor and a VW Tiguan on the Fosse Way near Moreton Morrell. The crash happened on the stretch of road between the turning for Compton Verney and the Five Ways roundabout near the B4100 Banbury Road.
A six-year-old girl was found with serious head injuries and taken to hospital, where she died on Saturday morning, August 1. The drivers of the tractor and the Tiguan, along with two young passengers, were left distressed but did not suffer physical harm.
Police appeal for witnesses
A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said:
"A child has sadly died after a collision on the Fosse Way near Moreton Morrell. As part of our ongoing investigation, we are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or who was driving along the B4455 around 5pm on Friday to come forward."
"We were called to a report of a collision involving the drivers of a tractor and a VW Tiguan on the stretch of road between the turning for Compton Verney and the Five Ways roundabout near the B4100 Banbury Road. Officers attended along with West Midlands Ambulance Service, who took a six-year-old girl with serious head injuries to hospital."
"Sadly, she died the following morning, and her family is being supported by specially trained officers. Enquiries are ongoing, and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or has footage of it. If you can help, please report it quoting incident number 331 of July 31."
