Four people, including a baby girl, have died following a crash on the A38 in Derby. The driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Crash leaves four dead
Emergency services were called to the A38 southbound between the A50 Toyota Island and the A516 at around 11pm on Saturday, July 25. A red Hyundai had left the road and hit trees.
A 36-year-old man and two women, aged 18 and 30, were declared dead at the scene. A baby girl was taken to hospital but died shortly after.
Driver arrested
The driver, a 33-year-old man from Leeds, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
All four victims were passengers in the vehicle. The relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

"Emergency services were called to the A38 between the A50 Toyota Island and the A516 at about 11pm on Saturday, July 25, following reports that a red Hyundai car had left the carriageway and collided with trees. Two women, aged 18 and 30, and a 36-year-old man were declared dead at the scene. A baby girl was taken to hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead a short while later. All four were passengers in the vehicle. The driver, a 33-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. All those involved are from Leeds in West Yorkshire. The relatives of those involved have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts are with them at this most distressing time."

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time. Contact Derbyshire Police quoting incident number 26*442464.
The A38 was closed for several hours but has since reopened. An investigation is ongoing.
