Four people, including a baby girl, have died in a collision on the A38 near Derby. The driver, a 33-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Crash Details
Emergency services were called to the scene between the A50 Toyota Island and the A516 at around 11pm on Saturday (July 25). A red Hyundai, carrying five occupants, had veered off the carriageway and collided with trees.
Victims Identified
Police confirmed that two women, aged 18 and 30, along with a 36-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene. A baby girl was taken to hospital but later died. All four were passengers in the vehicle.
Driver Arrested
The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains there. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. All those involved are from Leeds in West Yorkshire.
Police Appeal
The families have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Derbyshire police urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage to come forward.
