Paul Doyle's reckless driving was captured on his own dashcam in heart-stopping footage before he ploughed into a crowd in Liverpool, leaving 134 people injured. The video, released by police, shows Doyle driving his two-tonne Ford Galaxy towards the city centre on May 26.
In the first clip, he is seen weaving across the East Lancs Road, undertaking other vehicles, and accelerating through a red light at least three seconds after it changed. Another video shows Doyle on Byrom Street, where fans celebrating Liverpool's Premier League triumph can be seen on the side of the road.
Doyle was jailed for 21 years and six months on Monday after admitting 31 offences against 21 adults and eight children, including 17 counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and nine of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Prosecutors said Doyle “just lost his temper and, in a rage, drove into the crowd. When he did so, he intended to cause them serious harm. He was prepared to cause those in the crowd, even children, serious harm if necessary to achieve his aim of getting through.”
Additional CCTV footage shows Doyle on Dale Street, driving close to a couple pushing a baby in a pushchair, and later forcing fans to move out of his way before he headed into Water Street, where he ploughed into the crowds.
