A father of two has died following a two-car collision in South Wales, with his family paying tribute to their "very own Peter Pan". Craig Assirati, known as 'Boney', was a passenger in an Audi A5 that collided with a Volkswagen ID5 on the A472 Hafod-yr-Ynys Road, between Crumlin and Pontypool.
Emergency services attended the scene, and the 43-year-old was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Family tributes to a 'weird and wonderful human'
Craig's family described him as their "very own Peter Pan" who embraced fun and adventure. They said: "Craig was a weird and wonderful human, life and soul of every party and always unapologetically himself."
"He lived life to the very fullest – from being a much-loved husband, dad, son, brother to Brett and Dane, the fun uncle, friend and everything in between. He loved his family and friends deeply and would be there for anyone who needed it at the drop of a hat."
His family noted his passion for bikes, quads, cars, and holidays, adding: "Our lovable rogue, a genuine, caring and kind soul who will be deeply missed by everyone. We love you so, so much, our very own Peter Pan."
Wife and children remember Craig
Craig's wife, Eloise, described him as her soulmate and best friend, saying the couple had expected to spend the rest of their lives together. In a tribute posted online, she revealed they had been together for 13 years and called him the "funniest, kindest, gentle soul".
She added: "Your kids and family love you so much and I love you more than words can ever explain. My heart is broken."
His parents, Cherie and Ken, remembered their firstborn as their "mischievous, naughty boy", while his children, Chelsea and Kai, said he had taught them to live life to the fullest. They added: "You weren't just our dad but our best friend too and we love everything about you, even your crazy ideas and meal creations."
Investigation ongoing
Craig's family is being supported by specialist officers as the investigation continues. Gwent Police are appealing for any dashcam, CCTV or mobile-phone footage relating to the incident, which took place on Saturday, October 24.
