A5 closed as police tow dangerously parked vehicles

Police closed the A5 in Gwynedd on 31 October after dangerous parking at a popular beauty spot forced the route to be shut, with several vehicles now being towed away.

The road alongside Llyn Ogwen near Bethesda becomes overwhelmed during fine weather over holiday periods as tourists flock to the area. This afternoon, police confirmed they had sealed off the route to remove vehicles.

Police Confirm Road Closure and Towing

A spokesperson stated: "A5 at Nant Ffrancon, Bethesda is currently closed near Ogwen Lake. This is due to dangerous parking of several vehicles. The road will be closed for a short period whilst our Roads Policing Unit are arranging removal of those parked dangerously."

In response to a comment hoping the vehicles would be towed, police responded: "I can confirm vehicles deemed to be parking dangerously will be towed away."

Public Reaction to Dangerous Parking

One individual remarked: "We were on our way home about 11.30 this morning, it was ridiculous and so dangerous. There's no sense in it."

Bad parking has been a common issue along the A5, with previous footage showing the extent of the problem at the beauty spot.
