Two alleged shoplifters in Auburn, Massachusetts, had their getaway thwarted after stopping at a fast-food drive-thru near the scene of the crime, police said.
On August 13, around 2 p.m., police responded to a report that two women had stolen more than $2,000 in merchandise from a TJ Maxx store. The suspects fled in a black Ford Edge with Connecticut plates.
However, the pair did not get far. Police spotted the vehicle in the drive-thru line at a Wendy's directly across the street from the store. Dominique Marion, 38, and Tynaja Williams, 24, were arrested and charged with larceny over $1,200 and conspiracy.
After searching the car, officers found items taken from other stores in the region, and the two may face additional charges. Police noted, 'Moral of the story: Felonies do not come with a side of fries.'
