The US Department of Agriculture has issued an urgent recall for raw beef products imported from Argentina after they failed inspection. The recall affects 29,628 pounds (approximately 13,440kg) of raw beef distributed in Florida and Texas by Corte Argentino USA LLC.
Products sold without required reinspection
The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service said the products, listed under the brand FrigorIfico Gorina SAIC, were distributed to retailers without the required federal import reinspection. This process certifies that labelling, documentation and the product's condition meet federal guidelines.
Dates and product list
The products were produced between May 15 and May 20 and have use-or-freeze-by dates from September 15 to September 20. The recalled items include boneless beef "Top Sirloin Butt", "Eye Round", "Topside Cap Off", "Flat", and "Knuckle".
No reported illnesses
No illness has been reported as a result of consuming these products. Consumers who have purchased any recalled beef should immediately dispose of the product.
