Fashion influencer Susanna Lau, known online as Susie Bubble, has had her entire collection of 150 handbags stolen from her London home. The theft occurred while she was on a trip to the Maldives.

Details of the burglary

On Wednesday, Lau posted a video on Instagram revealing the break-in. She said, "All of my handbags are gone. 150 bags or so, which sounds like a crazy amount of bags but they were accumulated over a pretty long period of time, the best part of 20 years."

Lau, who has over 700,000 followers on Instagram, first rose to fame in 2006 after launching her fashion blog, Style Bubble. She became emotional as she reflected on her collection, which reminded her of "amazing trips and experiences."

Emotional impact

Lau described the loss as not just material but sentimental, saying, "A lot of them were gifts from people I know. It's not just a loss of mere stuff, it's memories." She did not go into detail about the burglary, noting it was still being investigated by police.

She said the ordeal felt like a "huge violation," leaving her terrified in her own home and scared to go outside. "I haven't wanted to go out either because I get scared. What do I do? Should I just stay here? Should I just stand guard?"

Support from followers

Lau acknowledged that losing handbags might seem trivial, calling it "the epitome of a first world problem." However, many friends and colleagues offered support. Influencer Jenny Tsang commented, "So sorry to hear this Susie...that’s such a frightening and violating experience. Glad you’re safe, sending love."

Fashion influencer Camille Charriere said, "Being burgled is traumatic you are allowed to feel totally violated its not ‘just a first world problem’."
