Police in Queensland are hunting for a man who carried out a terrifying armed robbery at a local shop, threatening an employee with a shotgun before making a getaway on a pushbike.
The Brazen Midday Hold-Up
The incident occurred at approximately 11.30am on November 14 at a store on Redbank Plains Road in the Ipswich suburb of Redbank Plains. Disturbing CCTV footage released by authorities captures the suspect's arrival and the moments leading up to the crime.
The man was seen walking towards the shop wearing distinctive clothing designed to conceal his identity. His outfit consisted of a yellow, silver, and black high-visibility jacket, which was pulled up to cover his face, along with black jeans and black lace-up boots. He was also carrying a black Adidas bag.
A Terrifying Threat and Getaway
Minutes after entering the premises, the CCTV shows the man pulling a shotgun from his bag and pointing the weapon directly at the shop employee behind the counter. After demanding and receiving cash, along with other items, the robber fled the scene on foot.
In a striking twist, further video evidence from just seven minutes later, at 11.37am, shows a man matching the robber's description calmly riding a pushbike along Jones Road in the nearby suburb of Bellbird Park. The nonchalant nature of his departure, just moments after the violent threat, has added to the audacity of the crime.
Police Appeal for Public Assistance
Queensland Police have launched a public appeal for information to track down the suspect. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from the Redbank Plains or Bellbird Park areas around the time of the robbery, to come forward.
Investigators are particularly interested in speaking to residents or motorists who were in the vicinity of Redbank Plains Road and Jones Road between 11.15am and 11.45am on November 14.
Information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The police have emphasised that even the smallest detail could be crucial to their investigation.
