A 41-year-old man has been charged after a burglary at a newly opened pub in Liverpool city centre. James Duggan, of no fixed abode, appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court on Tuesday 22 July and was remanded into custody.
Burglary at McSwiggin's
Just before 6.40am on Tuesday 21 July, Merseyside Police received a report of a burglary at McSwiggin's - House of Stout on Fenwick Street. The pub had opened only six days earlier, on Wednesday 15 July, at 25 Fenwick Street, breathing new life into the Grade II listed Castle Moat House after years of vacancy. The venue is operated by Liverpool Independent operator Pub Invest Group, which also runs the Rubber Soul Complex, The Old Bank, Temple Tavern and Level.
During the burglary, cupboards, fridges and windows were damaged, and several bottles of vodka and whiskey were stolen.
Charges and Court Appearance
James Duggan has been charged with burglary, theft from a shop and racially aggravated public order. He was remanded into custody following his appearance at Wirral Magistrates Court on Tuesday 22 July.
