Comedian Katherine Ryan has revealed that her boyfriend, Bobby Kootstra, fought off an intruder at their London home to protect a laptop containing scripts for her upcoming Netflix series, The Duchess.

In an Instagram Story, Ryan, 36, showed police at the scene and wrote: "Cool to be robbed tonight by a masked man in our home." She also appealed for help in tracing a stolen ring.

Ryan posted a clip showing blood on the laptop, saying: "This is why I love Bobby K. He got in a fight and wrestled back my Netflix series, all my scripts." Kootstra is Ryan's childhood sweetheart, whom she reportedly reunited with after 20 years while filming Who Do You Think You Are? in her hometown of Sarnia, Canada.

The comedian, who has lived in London for over a decade, joked she would get a German shepherd after her small dogs were "asleep at the wheel" during the incident. She also admitted she was struggling to sleep after the burglary.
