Jamie Vardy's luxury villa in Lake Garda, Italy, was burgled by a gang of three thieves who stole £80,000 worth of belongings, including jewellery, cash and a Patek Philippe watch. The break-in occurred while the former England striker was playing a match in Rome for his new club, Cremonese.
Police believe the gang had been watching Vardy and his family, timing the raid to coincide with his absence. CCTV footage shows one individual entering through an open window. The theft was discovered when friends returned to find items on the floor and evidence of a break-in. A babysitter was inside at the time but was unharmed.
Vardy moved to the £2 million villa in Salo after transferring from Leicester City in the summer. He has played eight times for Cremonese, scoring twice. The incident follows a trend of high-profile footballer burglaries, including those targeting Raheem Sterling and Alexander Isak.
In a recent match, Vardy wore a shirt with his wife's name, 'Becky', as part of a domestic violence campaign. He has spoken positively about his move to Italy, describing the challenge as exciting and thanking his family for their support.
