E-scooter thugs throw traffic cone at homeless man in Glasgow

Two masked thugs on an e-scooter were caught on CCTV throwing a traffic cone at a sleeping homeless man in Glasgow. The shocking video was captured around 2am on Thursday, July 23, on the city centre's Glassford Street.

Incident details

The footage shows two individuals wearing face coverings slowly riding along on an e-scooter beside a row of single tents used by rough sleepers. The male at the back, holding an orange traffic cone, is captured throwing it towards one of the tents before speeding away from the scene.

Homeless Project Scotland, who caught the vile act on a surveillance camera, have hit out at the yobs who targeted the individual that was forced to sleep there after their local night shelter was full.

Charity response

A spokesperson said: "At 2:10am this morning, a group of hooded youths came past and threw a traffic cone at the tent of a man forced to sleep rough. This individual isn’t sleeping in a tent by choice. He has nowhere else to go. Glasgow City Council had no emergency accommodation available, and our night shelter was already full."

"To deliberately target someone who is already at their lowest point is cruel, inhumane and completely unacceptable. No one should be treated this way simply because they are homeless. Homelessness is not a crime. Every person deserves safety, dignity and respect."

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
