Three British nationals and one Danish national have been arrested in Thailand after allegedly luring a British cryptocurrency trader to an apartment, tying him up, and stealing valuables worth about £64,000. The victim was invited to continue partying after a night out in Bangkok, police said.
Upon arrival, the man was tied up with rope and tape, beaten, and attacked with a stun gun. He was forced to contact his Thai girlfriend to say he would travel with friends, allowing the suspects to collect his belongings from her apartment, as shown on CCTV.
Police in Pattaya arrested three suspects after tracking them through hotel registrations, while a fourth was detained at Suvarnabhumi airport attempting to leave the country. The suspects, aged 21 to 27, face charges including armed robbery and unlawful detention.
Authorities seized mobile phones, cash, and luxury watches including an Audemars Piguet and a Rolex. A fifth suspect, a British woman, is believed to have fled Thailand. The victim had met the group earlier while travelling in Phuket.
