Bridgerton actress Genevieve Chenneour fought back when a prolific thief stole her phone at a Joe and the Juice branch in Kensington on 8 February. The 27-year-old star was buying a coffee when 18-year-old Zacariah Boulares snatched her handset from the counter.
CCTV footage shows Boulares lurking behind Chenneour before grabbing the phone. She quickly turned and confronted him, and with help from a friend prevented his escape. During the struggle, the phone fell, and Chenneour picked it up and struck the thief with it. She later said Boulares threatened to stab her multiple times.
Boulares had previously been convicted for an attack on TV presenter Aled Jones in July 2023, during which he threatened to cut off Jones's arm and stole a £17,000 Rolex watch. He was also responsible for robbing a 78-year-old man of a gold Rolex worth £20,000 at Paddington station in May 2023.
Chenneour suffered a concussion and said the incident left her on edge and traumatised her dog. Boulares, who has admitted theft and common assault, is being held at Wormwood Scrubs prison awaiting sentencing at Isleworth Crown Court on 17 June.
