A deadly terror attack in northern Israel on Friday has left two people dead and a teenager injured, according to Israeli authorities. The assailant, identified as a Palestinian from the occupied West Bank, carried out a combined vehicle and stabbing assault across two locations.
Details of the Attack
The incident began in the city of Beit Shean, where the attacker used a vehicle to run over a 68-year-old man. He then drove approximately eight miles (12.5km) to the community of Ein Harod, where he stabbed and killed an 18-year-old woman. Israeli police described the assault as a "rolling terror attack."
Emergency services from Magen David Adom stated that both victims were pronounced dead at the scenes after resuscitation attempts failed. A civilian at the scene intervened, shooting and wounding the assailant, who was subsequently taken to a hospital.
Immediate Aftermath and Response
In response to the attack, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated he had instructed the military to respond forcefully in Qabaitya, the West Bank town the assailant reportedly came from. The Israeli military confirmed it was "preparing for an operation" in that area, aiming to thwart any further potential attacks.
The attack, which occurred on Friday 26 December 2025, has heightened tensions in the region. Israeli security forces have increased their presence as investigations continue into the assailant's motives and any potential links.
